Infrastructure health check: report excerpt

This is what you get at the end of the health check: a written report in plain language, with risks in order of priority and an estimate of the time and cost to fix them.

Summary

Rossi Meccanica Srl · 18 workstations · 2 servers · 1 NAS · on site 14-15 October 2026

  • 3 high-priority risks
  • 4 medium priority
  • 3 low priority
  • 0 backups ever test-restored

The network works and the PCs are in good shape, but today a NAS failure or ransomware would stop the office for days: the only copy of the data sits in the same room as the servers and nobody has ever tried to restore it. The business app is reachable from the Internet without a VPN. The three high priorities take about 3 days of work.

Risks found

#AreaWhat we foundPriorityEstimate
R1BackupsOnly copy of the data on the office NAS, never test-restoredHIGH1.5 days
R2AccessRemote desktop (RDP) to the business app open to the Internet, port 3389HIGH0.5 days
R3Accounts3 former employees still active; NAS with a shared “admin” userHIGH2 h
R4UpdatesSRV-GEST server (Windows Server 2016) unpatched for 9 monthsMEDIUM0.5 days
R5CertificatesCustomer portal certificate expires in 12 days, renewed by handMEDIUM1 h
R6NetworkGuest Wi-Fi on the same network as the PCs (192.168.10.0/24)MEDIUM0.5 days
R7DocumentationNo network map or up-to-date list of servicesLOW0.5 days

Excerpt: 7 risks out of 10. Estimates are working days, hardware and licences excluded.

Recommendations

  1. This week Close port 3389 and let remote staff in through a VPN; disable the 3 former employees’ accounts and change the NAS password.
  2. Within 30 days Add an encrypted off-site copy (e.g. EU S3 storage, ~€8/month per 1 TB) and run a documented restore test.
  3. Within 60 days Patch the server during an evening maintenance window and turn on automatic certificate renewal.
  4. When you can Move guest Wi-Fi to its own VLAN and keep an up-to-date network map (we leave you one).

Check-up infrastruttura: estratto del report

Sommario

Rossi Meccanica Srl · 18 postazioni · 2 server · 1 NAS · sopralluogo 14-15 ottobre 2026

  • 3 rischi ad alta priorità
  • 4 a priorità media
  • 3 a priorità bassa
